-The Lead: The Assumption University women's tennis team battled to a 4-3 victory over the Gulls of Endicott College in their final match of the 2021 season on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-The Gulls took the doubles point winning two out of the three matches. Graduate student Julia Chappell (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) and junior Cara McCormack (Worcester, Mass. / Doherty Memorial) defeated their opponents at No. 1 doubles, 6-2.

-Chappell also earned a victory at No. 1 singles in three sets. She fell to Justine Hoover, 7-5 in the first set before claiming the final two, 6-1 and 10-4.

-McCormack also earned the Greyhounds a point at No. 2 singles. She went three sets with Lejla Guster. McCormack took the firs set 6-3, fell 2-6 in the second and earned the win in the third, 10-7.

-Sophomore Caitlin Sze (South Windsor, Conn. / South Windsor) defeated her opponent at No. 3 singles, 6-2 and 6-2.

-Junior Aimee Figgins (Milford, Mass. / Hopedale Jr./Sr. High School) also put up a win for the Greyhounds at No. 4 singles. She defeated Shelby Henry, 6-2 and 6-3.
