-The Lead: The Assumption University Men's basketball team continued their 2021-22 season on Saturday with a non-conference matchup with the Lions of Molloy College. The Hounds dominated all afternoon taking a 20-point lead into halftime and never looked back keeping the pressure on the visitors and securing a 30-point victory. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Isaiah Gaiter (Meriden, Conn. / Huntington Prep) had eight of the Hounds first 12 points to open the scoring on the day, including 15 total in the first half. While Matthew Kelly (North Potomac, Md. / Quince Orchard) had nine points to help pace the Hounds. 

-Assumption stretched their lead to as many as 21, when David Tiedemann (Westerley, R.I. / Westerley) hit a three pointer to push the lead to 42-21. 

-Jordan White (Prince Frederick, Md. / Clinton Christian School) ended the first half when he stole the ball and hit a deep three just over half court to beat the buzzer and send the Hounds into the break up 47-27. 

-In the second half, the Hounds bench got heavily involved scoring 30 points with Dewarren Watkins (Somerset, N.J. / Elizabeth) shooting 100% on his attempts registering eight points and Njavan Stewart (Newton Upper Falls, Mass. / Newton South) finishing the game with nine points and freshman Rapolas Buivydas (Kaunas, Penn. / CBS The Green) chipping in seven. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

-Assumption outrebounded Molloy 47-42. 

-The Hounds were 36-75 (48%) shooting on the day while Molloy went 24-62 (38.7%)
