-The Lead: The Assumption University women's tennis team fell to the Dolphins of Le Moyne College in a Northeast-10 Conference match at home on Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins earned the doubles point and swept singles play to take home the 7-0 shutout victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Graduate student Julia Chappell (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) and junior Cara McCormack (Worcester, Mass. / Doherty Memorial) battled at No. 1 doubles with senior Birdem Oz and junior Francesca Lilliegren. The Le Moyne duo edged Chappell and McCormack, 7-5.
-Sophomore Caitlin Sze (South Windsor, Conn. / South Windsor) and Yana Semerly (South Windsor, Conn. / South Windsor) held a tight match with the Dolphin's pair of sophomore Fiona Pepper and graduate student Marta Nunez, but fell by a final score of 6-3.
-Senior Brooke Fernandez and first year Isabella Barona cliched the doubles point for Le Moyne with a 6-2 final over sophomore Alexis Connolly (Whitman, Mass. / Whitman-Hanson Regional) and junior Aimee Figgins (Milford, Mass. / Hopedale Jr./Sr. High School).
-Chappell took Oz to three sets at No. 1 singles. She won the first set, 6-2 and fell 7-5 in the second set and 10-1 in the tiebreaker.
-The Dolphins swept all six singles matches to clinch the 7-0 final victory.
