Men's Soccer Clinches Third Seed Following 2-0 Win on Senior Day

WORCESTER, Mass. – A goal from Johannes Sundgot and a six-save shutout from Francisco Teixeira leads to a 2-0 win for the Assumption University men's soccer over Le Moyne on the final day of the regular season to clinch the third seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Tournament

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption controlled the majority of the action for most of the first half, as they were able to maintain possession of the attacking third for 59 percent of the first 45 minutes. Neither team was able to find the back of the net, but the Dolphins outshot the Greyhounds 8-7 and had five corners to just two for Assumption.
The Greyhounds opened up the second half with a bang as Johannes Sundgot fired a shot from 35 yards out into the top left corner of the cage. Assumption would double their lead in the 78th minute, as Brady Devos' cross was knocked in by a Dolphin defender.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Francisco Teixeira recorded his first career shutout as he collected six saves for the hosts.
  • Both sides fired 15 shots, while Le Moyne had eight corners to just four corners for the hosts.
  • Le Moyne continues to lead the all-time series 22-6.
