Gaiter Leads Men's Basketball Past Chestnut Hill, 85-65

WORCESTER, Mass – The Greyhounds offense continued its strong play, as they improved to 2-0 in the early season as they defeated Chestnut Hill College, 85-65.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
The Greyhound's offense has looked very smooth to start the season, with plenty of players contributing in the starting lineup and off the bench. Assumption was in a dogfight for most of the opening half, with teams exchanging spurts of offense. The Greyhounds went on a late run in the first half to stretch their lead to 16, which they held into halftime, going into the break with a score of 43-27. Assumption shot 35.00% from third-point territory in the first half and an even more impressive 50.0% from three in the second. Isiah Gaiter, Njavan Stewart, and Kyle Hicks led the way offensively for the Greyhounds, as the three combined for 58 of Assumption's 85 points. Gaiter was 11-13 from the field, including some big buckets to stretch the Greyhound lead down the stretch, leaving it out of reach for the Griffins. Amir Warrick led with 20 for the visitors, but it wasn't enough to break the Assumption momentum, as Cooper Creek continued his efficient shooting season, hitting two three's late in the second half to help close it out. 11 different Greyhounds saw action as they improved to 2-0 on the young season.
