WORCESTER, Mass. – It was a tale of two halves in Worcester, as the Assumption University men's basketball team fell to the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University 78-74 in the Northeast-10 Conference opener, Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption stormed out to a big lead right out of the gate, 6-0, getting some good baskets in the halfcourt and in transition. Franklin Pierce continued to cut into Greyhound leads throughout the first half, with Sean Bresnan and Brandon Kolek leading the way with seven points each. The lead was as big as 16 at halftime after the Ravens cut it to nine with only a few minutes to go.
Isiah Gaiter continued his impressive offensive play, dropping 15 in the first half. Kyle Hicks had eight, and
DeWarren Watkins had some nice contributions off the bench with seven.
The Ravens came out storming in the second half, cutting the Greyhound lead down to six with 10:44 remaining. Despite the attempts to regroup, it was not enough to hold off the Ravens, who outscored Assumption 47-27 in the second half. Franklin Pierce used a 25-point effort by Sean Bresnen to close out and get a big win, 78-74.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Assumption shot 59.4 percent from the field in the first half before shooting 29.6 in the second half.
- The Greyhounds had 21 turnovers to only 14 from the Ravens, allowing them back into the game
- Isiah Gaiter led the way scoring-wise again, dropping 21 points
