UNIVERSITY PLACE, Washington. – The Assumption University cross country season came to a close, as
Claudio Rocha finished 134
th overall at the NCAA Division II National Championship at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Washington.
HOW IT HAPPENED
For the second straight year,
Claudio Rocha competed in the National Championship, and after finishing 112
th in Tampa, Fla., in 2021, Rocha finished the race 134
th, despite a faster time.
Rocha stuck in the middle of the pack for the entirety of the race, as at the 1.2K marker, the Peabody, Mass. native was in 169
th before moving up to 160
th by the 2K stick. Claudio continued to move up the leaderboard, getting as high as 123
rd at the 7.2K mark. Rocha would slide a few spots down the stretch to finish 134
th overall, as he tripped the timer at 31:41.9.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Rocha was ten seconds off his career 10K time as e ran 31:31.2 at the 2021 NCAA East Regional Cross Country Championships at Robert Wesleyan.
- This is the second straight year that Rocha competed at Nationals, as he finished 112th overall in 2021.
