WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Alan Nguyen (Reading, Mass.) and senior Ethan Hall (Duxbury, Mass.) teamed up to win in doubles and also captured their singles matches in leading the Assumption University men's tennis team to a 5-2 victory over Clark in the program's season-opening match of the spring on Sunday afternoon.

With the teams using NCAA Division II scoring, Assumption earned the initial doubles point by capturing victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Nguyen and Hall teamed up to blank Aidan Hurtado and Sam Pomann, 6-0, from the No. 2 position, while senior Michael Butkus (Worcester, Mass.) and sophomore Lucas Caira (Medfield, Mass.) easily took the No. 3 doubles match by a 6-1 score.

The Greyhounds then won the top four singles matches to come away with the win. In addition to having Nguyen and Hall post their second victories of the day, senior Max Francis (West Barnstable, Mass.) downed Dairy Vykhodtsev, 6-3 and 6-1, from the top spot and junior Brady Ryan (Lynn, Mass.) bettered Christian Reubens in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-1, at No. 2 singles to round out the list of winners for the hosts.

Assumption (2-0) will look to remain unbeaten this year when it next entertains Post on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
