Box Score COLCHESTER, VT – The Assumption University men's basketball team dropped their first contest on the season, losing to Felician University 88-68 on Friday evening in the Best Western Windjammer Doc Jacobs Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption got going right away, with
Kyle Hicks picking off a pass and
Kani Glover knocking down a three. The Hounds shot hot out the gate, with
Alex Carlisle and Kasey Draped both knocking down their first shots in blue and white, going up 8-4. Assumption sprung out to a 19-12 lead, as the Falcons of Felician would work to stay in it. At a 21-15 lead, the Hounds were shooting 50% from the field. The Falcons got their offense going as the half went on, as a jumper from Anas Amos was good to put the Falcons up 27-26 with less than five minutes left in the half. The Falcons were on a ten-point run, with a Jabri Fitzpatrick jumper stretching the Felician lead to 37-29. Glover would go 1-for-2 on free throws at the end of the half, as the Falcons would take a 42-37 lead into the break.
The Falcons started the second half on an offensive tear, ripping off 14 points on a 14-9 run and going up 56-46, forcing Assumption into a timeout. Draper tried to get Assumption going again, as he got his 16th point on the night with a driving layup off of a Carlisle assist. Despite Assumption working hard to get back in it, the Falcons worked hard to keep the lead large, as Tavian Pullock's layup brought the difference back up to 12 with 5:43 remaining. The Falcons continued to pull away as Assumption's offense was flattening, shooting 37.9 percent from the field while the Falcons were shooting at a 56.7% clip. Felician would use an awe-inspiring second half to pull away and get their first win of the season, defeating Assumption.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Draper scored 27 in his first game as a Hound, shooting 10-19 from the field and 3-7 from deep.
- Carlisle added 13 in his Hounds debut, while Glover had 19.
- Assumption shot 36.1 percent from the field and 28.1 percent from beyond the arc.
- The Greyhounds were outrebounded 46-35.
