HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption came out with lots of energy, building up to a 7-3 lead through
Daouda Dembele. The run continued as the Hounds couldn't miss from the field, with the lead growing into double digits just eight minutes in through Tayshawn Cunningham-Pemberton, as the Hounds led 18-6. The Chargers responded with a run of their own, erasing a 10-point deficit in just three minutes to lead 23-22 with 5:45 to go, as Seth Sharif-Brown converted on the layup. The Hounds used continuous makes down the floor through
Kani Glover to build back up to a slight lead before the break.
Kasey Draper used their last possession well, nailing a corner three with three seconds to spare. At the half, the Greyhounds were up 33-27.
The Hounds opened the second half building on the slight lead, extending up to ten with back-to-back layups from Dembele and Draper. The Chargers offense was slow out of the gate and only scored six points in the opening seven minutes of the second half. Eight minutes in, Assumption got everyone involved, including
Cooper Creek, knocking down a big three off the bench to extend the lead to 14. The Hounds were starting to pull away up 16, but the Chargers quickly got it back down to nine to keep it competitive. The Hounds never lost control of the double-digit lead, despite the Chargers continuing the full-court press throughout the contest. The Greyhounds maintained their composure and secured the 12-point victory, 75-63.
