WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's basketball team capped off the regular season with an 86-75 win over Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference action Tuesday evening in Laska Gymnasium.

THE BASICS
Score:  Assumption University 86, Adelphi University 75
Records: Greyhounds (15-13, 11-11 NE10), Panthers (18-10, 14-8 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds would spring out in front to a quick 13-4 lead out of the gate, with Kasey Draper scoring seven points quickly. The Hounds would keep their foot on the gas, exploding in front to a 20-8 lead, with Njavan Stewart getting in on the action. Up 28-12, Adelphi would go on a small run to try and get it close before halftime. Elijah Lewis nailed the pull-up jumper at 6:45 to get the Panthers within six. From that point on, the Hound would outscore the visitors 10-8 to lead into halftime up 38-30, with Draper having 12 at the break.

The second half would be a game of quick runs. Daouda Dembele and Stewart would get the first three buckets to spark a 7-0 run, putting Assumption up by 15 and forcing the Panthers into a timeout. However, Adelphi would storm back themselves, closing the gap back to seven with a Mason Jackson hook shot at 15:46. Conor Regan and Seth Brown would drill back-to-back threes at 11:34, and all of a sudden, the Assumption lead was down to three at 54-51, forcing the home side into a timeout. The Hounds went on a 10-0 run out of the timeout to regain a decent advantage. Draper was getting it going for Assumption, as he was the leading scorer and ended the night with 27. Despite the Panthers making small runs every few minutes, the Hounds settled in and would close with big baskets.
