NEW CASTLE, Del. – The No. 4 seeded Assumption University softball team lost in the NCAA Division II East Regional Final, 8-0, to the top-seeded Wilmington University (Del.) in six innings at Asbury Field on the campus of Wilmington University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Wilmington jumped out to an early lead, scoring one on a groundout to second base in the top of the first. The Wildcats struck again at the top of the third, plating a run on a sacrifice fly to center field. The top-seeded Wilmington University continued to extend its lead, adding two runs in the top of the fourth to go up 4-0.
The Wildcats added three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to go up 8-0. The Greyhounds could not muster any offense and would fall 8-0 in the regional final after becoming the first team in program history to reach the regional finals.
