TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the Division II National Singles and Doubles Rankings as announced on November 12
th.
National Rankings consist of the top 50 singles rankings and the top 25 doubles rankings. Regional Rankings consist of the Top 20 singles rankings and the Top 10 doubles rankings. Regional Rankings represent the Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast, and West Regions.
Herman Aguirre and
Darja Trinerova represented the Greyhounds on the National Rankings, as individuals, while
Michele Elia and
Igor Kubalka were ranked regionally in doubles action.
Aguirre ranked ninth in the East Region with a 4-2 record at No. 1 singles, with wins against Adelphi (7-6, 1-6, 6-4) and at Queens College (6-4, 6-7, 4-7, 6-0). He was also named the Northeast 10 Player of the Week three times.
Trinerova is currently ranked tenth in the Region, as she continues her stellar freshman campaign, with a 9-3 overall, including 8-2 at No. 2 singles.
The duo of Elia and Kubalka has combined to go 5-1 overall in top-flight doubles, including wins over Adelphi (6-4), Southern New Hampshire (6-4), and Queens College (7-5).
The men will be back in action on March 18
th, as they will host Merrimack College, while the women will travel to MIT on February 14
th.
