CALDWELL, NJ– The Assumption University softball team dropped two one-run games at Caldwell University in a non-conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One Score: Caldwell University 6, Assumption University 5 – 9 Innings
Assumption started fast, as they plated three runs in the top of the first.
Molly Green,
Kaylee Lacomb, and
Emma Bloom recorded RBI in the frame. Caldwell answered with three in the bottom of the first before
Bianca Vincequere scored on an error by the Cougars' center fielder. Caldwell tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the third, while
Kaitlyn Cahill scored in the top of the fifth before the hosts tied the game in the bottom of the frame.
The game would head to extra innings, where Caldwell would walk it off on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the ninth.
Game Two Score: Caldwell University 9, Assumption University 8
In game two, it was all Caldwell from the early going, as they scored one in the bottom of the first, three in the third, and three more in the bottom of the fourth to go up 7-0. Assumption broke through in the top of the fifth as the Hounds erupted for eight runs, which included a grand slam by
Emma Bloom, to give Assumption an 8-7 edge.
Caldwell added one run in the sixth and the seventh to record a 9-8 win.
