ROCHESTER, NY – The Assumption University women's lacrosse team halted a three-game losing streak with a 16-13 win at Roberts Wesleyan University on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption was the first team to break through, as
Kyle Johnston and
Morgan Bolduc scored in the opening three minutes of the contest. Roberts Wesleyan responded with three-straight before Bolduc and
Annika Pyy gave the Greyhounds a 4-3 advantage after 15 minutes.
The Hounds started to pull away in the second quarter, as Pyy and
Katelynn Johnston combined for three goals to go up 7-3. After a Redhawks' tally, Ava Macdonald kickstarted a 4-0 run to close out the first half, putting the Blue and White up 11-4 at the break.
In the third quarter, the hosts slowly chipped away at the deficit, outscoring Assumption 5-2 to get within four (13-9).
Aleigh Thompson opened the fourth quarter with an up goal for the Greyhounds before Roberts Wesleyan went on a 3-0 run to get within two (14-12). Bolduc halted the run before
Molly Weiand added an insurance goal to put the Hounds up 16-12. The Redhawks would add one final goal to bring the final score to 16-13.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Skylar Troyan recorded seven saves to pick up the win.
- Katelynn Johnston led the way with three goals and three assists, while Morgan Bolduc had a career-high four goals.
- Assumption outshot Roberts Wesleyan 32-22, while the Greyhounds forced ten turnovers and only turning the ball over eight times.
- Assumption continues to lead the all-time series 3-1.
