TAMPA, Fla. – The Assumption University softball team swept by No. 9 University of Tampa in non-conference action Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One Score: University of Tampa 6, Assumption University 0
Paige Cote had a strong start to the day in the pitching circle, as she blanked the nationally ranked Spartans for 3.0 innings before Tampa struck for five runs in the bottom of the fourth. The hosts added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, but the Spartans' defense kept Assumption off the board for a 6-0 game-one final score.
Game Two Score: University of Tampa 3, Assumption University 2
Assumption got on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning as
Bianca Vincequere scored on a wild pitch. The Greyhounds doubled their advantage in the fourth, as
Maddy Bland scored on a fielder's choice. In the pitching circle,
Kaelin Waldron dazzled Tampa hitters for 6.0 innings, holding them scoreless and scattering three hits through six innings.
The Spartans would eventually breakthrough in the bottom of the seventh, as they plated three runs, including a walk off double from Mckenna Demartino, which drove in two runs on the play.
