SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The No. 24 Assumption University women's lacrosse team dropped the first game of their 2025 campaign, as they fell to No. 23 Mercy University 15-4 in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After
Kyle Johnston scored the opening goal for Assumption at 1:27 into the game, Mercy responded with third straight tallies to go up 3-1 after the opening quarter.
Chloe Scornavacca opened the scoring in the second quarter, but after a quick response by the Mavericks,
Molly Weiand got the Hounds back within one (4-3) with 5:52 remaining in the first half. The hosts finished strong, answering with back-to-back goals to head into the intermission up 6-3.
The second half was all Mercy, as they outscored Assumption 9-1, with
Kyle Johnston scoring the lone goal for the Greyhounds.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Skylar Troyan recorded 14 saves in the crease for the Greyhounds.
- Mercy outshot Assumption 35-17.
- The all-time series is now tied at 5-5.
