GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Assumption University women's lacrosse team saw their season come to an end Wednesday afternoon, as the No. 6-seeded Greyhounds fell to the No. 2-seeded Adelphi University Panthers, 15-9, in the Northeast-10 Conference Semifinals, at Motamed Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Adelphi started fast, as they scored the first two goals of the contest.
Annie Ettenhofer got Assumption on the board with her third goal of the year. After a free position tally by the Panthers,
Margaret Loeber got the Greyhounds back within one (3-2) with four minutes left in the opening frame. The hosts bookend the end of the first and the beginning of the second with a goal in both frames to go up 5-2. Ava Macdonald and
Katelynn Johnston joined Loeber to tie the game at 5-5, before Adelphi struck twice to end the first half and go up 7-5.
Assumption tied the game with goals from Johnston and
Annika Pyy in the first four minutes after the intermission, but the Panthers then proceeded to score five straight, stretching into the fourth quarter to go up 12-7.
Katelynn Johnston got the Hounds within three (12-9) with back-to-back tallies, but Adelphi was too much, as they closed the game with three tallies and woulf win 15-9.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Skylar Troyan tied a season-high 15 saves in the contest; it was the tenth time this season with 10+ saves.
- Adelphi outshot Assumption 40-19, while the Greyhounds won 21-of-28 draw controls.
- Katelynn Johnston led the way offensively for Assumption with three goals, while Margaret Loeber added a pair.
- Adelphi still leads the all-time series 24-0.
