PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.—The Assumption University softball team fell late to the top-seed Pace University in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship series, 6-4, Saturday afternoon at the Pace Softball field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption started fast, as
Grace Heim continued to tear the cover off the ball in the NE10 Tournament with a two-run home run to left field in the top of the first inning. Pace cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second with an RBI single from Sophie Valle.
Kaitlyn Cahill extended their lead back to two runs with a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning. The Setters tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the frame with a two-RBI single to center.
Alyssa Johnson regained the lead for the Hounds with an RBI single in the top of the sixth, before the hosts would tack on three runs in the bottom of the frame to up 6-4. In the top of the seventh, Assumption would get the go-ahead runner to the plate, but the NE10 Pitcher of the Year, Gisselle Garcia, struck out the final batter to clinch the NE10 Championship.
