Four Student-Athletes take home Athlete of the Week honors for the first week of games

9/8/2025 2:42:00 PM

WORCESTER, Mass. – Assumption University had four student-athletes earn Northeast 10 Conference Athletes of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Football Offensive Player of the Week
Jay Kastantin, Assumption
Junior | Quarterback | Needham, Mass.

Kastantin led the way for Assumption through the air and on the ground in its first game at No. 7 Kutztown. He went 15-for-27 for 136 yards and two touchdowns in the passing game. Kastantin added 70 yards on nine carries on the ground, recording 206 yards of offense.

Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week
Paige Gillette, Assumption
Grad | Andover, Mass.

Paige Gillette made 16 stops on 19 shots faced over the weekend against No. 3 East Stroudsburg University and No. 7 West Chester. Gillette's lone goal against East Stroudsburg came on a penalty stroke early in the first quarter. She kept Assumption in the game by not allowing another goal for the rest of the contest.

Field Hockey Rookie of the Week
Mieke Rentsch, Assumption
Freshman | Midfield | Hamburg, Ger.

Rentsch supplied plenty of offense and defense with speed and skill in her first two collegiate games. The freshman was exposed to elite competition out of the gate as Assumption hosted No. 7 West Chester and No. 3 East Stroudsburg University. Still, Rentsch showcased her ability to play both ends of the field at a high pace.

Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Emma Seaberg, Assumption
Freshman | Defender | Lakeville, Mass.

Seaberg played in all 180 minutes of action on defense for Assumption last week. Seaberg's shutdown play was a significant factor in both of the Greyhounds' shutout victories against Daemen and D'Youville.
