GARDEN CITY, N.Y.—The Assumption University softball team took game one 7-0, but would eventually drop game two 3-0, as the Greyhounds split their doubleheader at Adelphi University in Northeast 10 Conference action, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One Score: Assumption University 7, Adelphi University 0
Assumption started strong, as
Maddy Bland scored on a fielding error by the Adelphi pitcher. Bland added to the lead at the top of the third, as she drove in
Kaitlyn Cahill with a double to left center field, before scoring on an
Emma Bloom single to center.
Molly Green added an insurance run in the top of the fifth, with an RBI single to right. The Greyhounds tacked on three more runs in the sixth with Bland tripling down the left field line and a Bloom single to right.
Kaelin Waldron picked up the win with a complete game shutout, as she struck out eight over 7.0 innings, and allowed just two hits.
Game Two Score: Adelphi University 3, Assumption University 0
The game would remain scoreless until the bottom of the fourth, as Adelphi plated three runs in the frame. Assumption would only get two runners in scoring position, as
Kaylee Lacomb stole second in the top of the third, and back-to-back singles in the seventh would be the best chance to score. The Greyhounds would fall in game two 3-0.
