MANCHESTER, N.H.—The Assumption University men's basketball team could not complete a second-half comeback, as the Greyhounds fell to Saint Anselm College 90-77 in the Northeast 10 Conference Semifinals, Wednesday evening at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption started fast, as they raced out to a 17-6 lead less than five minutes into the game, as
Baril Mawo led the way with 11 points. Saint Anselm battled back and would continue to chip away at the deficit and would take their first lead of the game (29-28), following a Will Davies step back with 7:38 left in the first half. The Hawks continued their momentum with a 22-10 run to close out the first half and would carry a 49-38 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, Saint Anselm continued their run, as they outscored Assumption 23-13 over the first 10:47 of the frame, extending their advantage to 74-51. The Greyhounds would not quit, as Mawo and
Zee McCown fueled a 22-6 run, cutting the margin down to seven points (80-73) with 1:57 left in regulation. The Hawks would close the game out on a 10-4 run, including going 8-for-10 at the charity stripe to secure a 90-77 final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Baril Mawo led the Greyhounds with 20 points, seven rebounds, and three steals.
- Tayeshawn Cunningham-Pemberton (18), Zee McCown (13), and Lenny Tangishaka (12) all recorded double-digit points.
- Saint Anselm had the slight edge on the glass (38-35), while also outscoring Assumption 44-36.
- The Greyhounds led the fastbreak (17-12) and the second-chance points (11-7).
- Saint Anselm still leads the all-time series 74-57
