WORCESTER, Mass. – Five Assumption University spring sport programs have been announced to be in the regional rankings, as both tennis programs, men's lacrosse, and men's outdoor track & field teams have joined the men's golf team in the running for NCAA playoff spots.
Men's Tennis
The Greyhounds are ranked fourth in the East Region, and they locked up a top-two seed in the upcoming Northeast 10 Conference playoffs following a 4-0 sweep of Southern New Hampshire.
Herman Aguirre is ranked ninth in the region in singles action, while the combination of
Michele Elia and
Igor Kubalka ranks fourth in doubles play.
Women's Tennis
The women's tennis team is sixth in the East Region, as they are the No. 2 seed for the upcoming NE10 playoffs. They are led by freshman
Darja Trinerova, who is ranked tenth in singles action. The Greyhounds finished the regular season 15-9 overall and 9-3 in NE10 action, with the nine conference wins being the most since the 2016-17 campaign.
Men's Lacrosse
The Men's Lacrosse team is ranked fifth in the North Region, as they are ranked 16
th nationally.
Sophomore
Boomer Staunton leads the Greyhounds offensively with a program record 50 goals, while
Patrik McGrath supplies a balanced attack with 33 goals and 26 assists for 57 points.

Patrick Johnston (13),
Nolan Johnson (12), and
Brian Shortt (12) all add secondary scoring.
Defensively,
Shane Corcoran has once again been one of the best netminders in the country. In 14 games, he has a 9.66 goals-against average and a 0.592 save percentage, and his 168 saves rank him second in the Northeast 10 Conference.
Men's Track & Field
The men's track& field team is ranked fourth in the East Region. The Greyhounds are led by Zachary Carey, who has the top javelin throw in the region, as his throw of 57.21m at the SNHU Spring Invitational is the high mark for the season. The 4x100 relay team of Shane Pritchard, DJ Chaudhry, Joel Spaulding, and Jalen Smith-Phillip is third, while Chaudhry (400m), Miguel Torres (Javelin), Tucker Walker (Shot Put), and Spaulding (100m) also rank in the top five.
Men's Golf
The men's golf team is ranked second in the East Region. The Greyhounds finished off the regular season by winning two of the final three invitationals, as they won the Hawks Invitational at Candia Woods Golf Course and the Penmen Spring Invitational at Derryfield Country Club.
Ryan Willey capped off the spring season with a program record 66 in the opening round of the Penmen Season Finale at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.
