NEW HAVEN, Conn.—The Assumption University softball team capped off the regular season with a Saturday split at Southern Connecticut State University. The Greyhounds would take game one 2-1, before falling in game two 3-1, in Northeast 10 Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One Score: Assumption University 2, Southern Connecticut State University 1
Game one was a low-scoring affair, as the first run came in the top of the fourth with
Kaylee Lacomb scoring on an error by the third baseman. The Greyhounds tacked on another run in the frame, as
Siena Nardelli scored on an error by the Southern Connecticut second baseman.
The Owls would have to wait until the sixth to get their first run of the day, with a single through the left side of the infield.
Kaelin Waldron recorded her 11
th win of the year, as she scattered five hits over 7.0 innings, striking out three.
Kaitlyn Cahill was the only hitter on both teams to have multiple hits, as she went 3-for-4 with a double and a stolen base.
Game Two Score: Southern Connecticut State University 3, Assumption University 1
Southern Connecticut was the first team to score in the bottom of the first inning, as Izzy Ingersoll scored on a double by Sophia Anigolini. The Owls added to their lead with one run in the second inning, before Assumption got on the board with
Jaiden Tonucci stealing third and scoring on a throwing error by the third baseman.
The Owls added an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single, making it 3-1. The Greyhounds would threaten in the top of the seventh, as they got a leadoff single by
Bella Mara and a double by
Maddy Bland, setting it up with second and third with no outs in the frame. The SCSU defense would wiggle out of the jam with a pop out, a strikeout, and a fly out to end the game.
