SPARKILL, N.Y.—The Assumption University softball team saw their historic season come to a close, as they fell to St. Thomas Aquinas College 8-3 in eight innings in game two of the NCAA Division II Super Regional on Thursday afternoon at Spartan Field on the campus of St. Thomas Aquinas College.

Records: Greyhounds (33-28, 21-15 NE10) | Spartans (38-12, 18-2 ECC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
St. Thomas College was the first team to score, as they plated one run in the top of the third, but it was quickly answered by a
Bella Mara RBI single, plating Katilyn Cahill on the play. The two teams would trade runs once again, as the Spartans had a bases-loaded single in the top of the fifth. Mara answered once again for the Greyhounds, as she doubled down the left field line, driving in
Kaylee Lacomb from second.
The back-and-forth affair would continue in the sixth, as STAC would score one run in the inning, before Cahill laced a triple to left field, scoring
Naomi Cohen on the play. The Spartans would erupt with five runs in the top of the eighth to pull away for an 8-3 final score.
