HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption faced early pressure from Southern New Hampshire, but
Federico Foganio made two saves in the opening three minutes to keep the Penmen off the board.
Matthew Lamour added a defensive save in the 13th minute before
Vebjoern Oeen denied another SNHU opportunity in the 25th minute. Foganio continued to hold the visitors scoreless with three additional saves in the opening half.
The Greyhounds broke through late in the first half. In the 42nd minute,
Cody Holbert found the back of the net off an assist from
Ryan Linhares, giving Assumption a 1-0 advantage. The goal was Holbert's team-leading 10th of the season, and the Greyhounds carried the one-goal lead into halftime.
Southern New Hampshire answered early in the second half when Dani Bujanda scored at 49:54 off assists from Eduard Fandunyan and Miguel Gimeno to tie it at 1-1. The Penmen continued to apply pressure, but Foganio made four saves over the next 26 minutes to keep the game tied.
Assumption generated several chances to regain the lead late. Juanesteban Hincapie had an attempt cleared away by a defensive save in the 77th minute before
Evan Fletcher and
Evan Conceicao each put shots on goal over the next three minutes. Hincapie produced another opportunity in the 85th minute, but his shot was stopped as the teams remained deadlocked.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Federico Foganio made a season-high 11 saves in goal for the Greyhounds.
- Southern New Hampshire outshot Assumption 25-10 and led in corners, 10-3.
- The Greyhounds had four corner kicks to the Penmen's three.
- Holbert's goal in the first half snapped the Penmen's 263:11-minute shutout streak, dating back to September 19, 2026 against American International College.
- Southern New Hampshire still leads the all-time series 23-4-4.
