Franchesca Hammond joins the Greyhounds' women's basketball coaching staff, bringing with her a well-rounded background as a player, coach, and educator.
Hammond spent over three years as an assistant coach at Anna Maria College, where she built scouting reports, ran practices and drills, and led game-day preparation alongside the coaching staff. Beyond the X's and O's, she earned a reputation as a trusted mentor — creating a safe, open environment where players felt comfortable communicating, while consistently reinforcing the head coach's vision for the program.
Her coaching path started well before Anna Maria. Since 2022, Hammond has served as an ESL teacher and basketball coach at Vernon Hill in Worcester, where she's planned and delivered instruction for multilingual learners while fostering a classroom built on confidence and academic growth. On the court, she founded the WPS Basketball League, giving students the chance to compete against other schools and showcase their talent — a program that reflects her commitment to building opportunities for young athletes both in and out of the classroom.
A standout during her own playing career at Anna Maria College, Hammond earned All-GNAC Second Team honors and was named Female First Year Athlete of the Year. She also received the Leadership Award for Women's Basketball and the Four Year Commitment Award, and was a consistent presence on the Dean's List.
Hammond holds a Master's degree in Business Management (2022) and a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management (2021), both from Anna Maria College.
