Manchester, N.H. (November 30) -- The Ice Dogs dropped a Northeast-10 Conference match to Saint Anselm College, 11-1, on Wednesday night at the Thomas F. Sullivan Arena.
Saint Anselm jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, before the Ice Dogs responded on a goal by Pat O'Kane (Hollis, N.H./Bishop Guertin). Kevin Glanzman (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) passed the puck to Taylor Larsen (Blackstone, Mass./Worcester Academy) at the point, who dished it to O'Kane in front of the net, and O'Kane beat the Saint Anselm goaltender, Robert Kang, to cut the lead in half, 2-1.
Saint Anselm responded with the final three goals of the period to push the lead to four, 5-1 after one period. The Hawks added four second period goals, to push the lead to 9-1, before chipping in two goals in the final period for the final margin.
The Hawks outshot Assumption, 60-15, while the Ice Dogs split time in net between three goaltenders. Bobby Bowden (Springfield, Mass./Williston-Northampton) played the first period and turned away 15 shots, and Nick Blanchette (Stuart, Fla./Worcester Academy) played the second period and made 20 saves, before giving way to Steve DiDomenico (Lowell, Mass./Lowell) who made 14 saves in the final period. The Assumption netminders combined for 49 saves. For the Hawks, Kang played the first two periods, making 10 saves before giving way to Corey Cotnoir who made four saves in the final period.
The Ice Dogs fall to 5-5-1 on the season, while Saint Anselm improves to 3-3-1. The Ice Dogs will come back to action on Saturday, December 3rd as the team returns to Manchester, N.H. to take on Southern New Hampshire University at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The puck will drop at 3:05 p.m.
