Worcester, Mass. (February 22) -- In the
regular-season finale, the Assumption men's ice hockey team
rallied from a late 1-0 deficit to come away with a 1-1 overtime
tie vs. Salve Regina on Tuesday night in non-conference action
at Buffone Rink. The game was originally scheduled for
February 1st, but was postponed due to weather.
The Seahawks jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead just 3:46 into the
game as Brett Pimental scored his ninth goal of
the season. The goal was a power-play score and was assisted on by
Bryan Russell and Joe Colaianni.
After a scoreless second period, the Ice Dogs struck just 4:25 into
the third period as junior Taylor Larsen (Blackstone,
Mass./Worcester Academy) tied the game up at 1-1. The goal
was a team-leading 16th of the season.
Nick Blanchette (Stuart, Fla./Worcester
Academy) made 25 saves for the Ice dogs, while
Mike McDonald turned aside 33 shots in the
tie.
With the tie, the Ice Dogs complete the regular season at
10-14-1 overall, while the Seahawks improve to 2-21-2 overall with
the win. Assumption is back in action on Saturday afternoon as the
Ice Dogs host Stonehill in a Northeast-10 Conference Tournament
quarterfinal game at Buffone Rink beginning at 4:35 p.m.
