Box Score Manchester, N.H. (September 14) -- On Wednesday afternoon at Grappone Stadium, the Assumption field hockey team dropped a 3-0 final to Saint Anselm in non-conference action. The Hounds trailed by a 1-0 margin at the half before the Hawks pulled away in the second period.
After over 34 minutes of scoreless play in the first, the Hawks got on the board with just 17 seconds left as Kristina Katsikis scored her third goal of the season for the 1-0 advantage. Saint Anselm added a second Katsikis goal at the 49:20 mark, along with the second goal of the season by Elizabeth Sears to account for the 3-0 final. Katsikis picked up the assist on the final goal.
Sophomore goalie Heather Philbrick (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) turned aside six shots in the loss, while Megan Sullivan didn't face a shot on goal in the victory.
With the loss, Assumption falls to 0-4 overall, while Saint Anselm improves to 1-4 on the season. The Greyhounds are back in action on Saturday, September 17 as the team plays host to Saint Michael's for a 1 p.m. start at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
