Ravens Pull Away in Second Half in 4-0 Victory

Worcester, Mass. (September 8) -- In the home opener on Thursday night, the Assumption College field hockey team dropped a 4-0 final to visiting Franklin Pierce under the lights at the Multi-Sport Stadium. The loss drops the Greyhounds to 0-2 overall, while the Ravens improve to 2-1 on the season.

The Ravens jumped on the board at the 19:05 mark of the first half as Lauren L'Heureux scored off an assist from Megan Bird for the 1-0 lead. Holding the 1-0 edge at the half, Franklin Pierce added two goals off of penalty corners in the second to extend the lead to 3-0 with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game. Kimberly Jaksina and Tori Gamache were the goal scorers for the Ravens.

Franklin Pierce added a final goal with just over one minute left as L'Heureux scored off a rebound for her second score of the game to account for the 4-0 final.

Sophomore Heather Philbrick (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) made six saves for the Greyhounds in the loss, while Rachel Baxter stopped one shot for the Ravens.

Assumption is back in action on Saturday afternoon as the Greyhounds travel to Adelphi for a Northeast-10 Conference game.
