Box Score Waltham, Mass. (October 13) -- On Saturday morning, the Assumption College field hockey team dropped a 2-0 final to Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference action as the two teams split the regular-season series.
Bentley jumped on the board with 7:10 left in the first half as Melissa Martorelli converted a penalty stroke for her first goal of the season and the 1-0 lead. The game headed into the half at 1-0 as the two teams were even in shots at four apiece.
The Falcons added to the lead with 11:12 remaining as Gina Lirange converted a penalty corner for her sixth goal of the season and the 2-0 advantage.
Sophomore goalie Lauren Neilan (Mendon, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) made two saves in the loss, while Bentley netminder Julia Powell turned aside two shots in the win.
With the loss, the Hounds drop to 7-8 overall and 4-4 in the league, while the Falcons improve to 8-6 overall and 5-2 in the Northeast-10.
The Hounds are back in action on Tuesday, October 16th as the team travels to Southern Connecticut for a Northeast-10 Conference game beginning at 4 p.m.
