Worcester, Mass. (November 7) -- The Assumption College ice hockey team dropped a 4-1 final to Westfield State University at the Buffone Arena on Wednesday evening.
Freshman Chris Hemhauser (Old Saybrook, Conn. / Worcester Academy) made 34 saves in his first career start, as the Greyhounds fall to 1-4 on the season and will open league play at Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, Nov. 10.
Trailing 1-0 after one period, the Greyhounds evened up the score on a goal by Trevor Loiseau (South Grafton, Mass. / Hudson) 17 seconds into the second period. Joe Fimiani (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) and Keven Meehan (Melrose, Mass. / Austin Prep) assisted the goal.
Westfield State took a 2-1 lead with a goal nine minutes later, and wouldn't trail again. The Owls added two third period goals, including an empty netter with three seconds remaining for the 4-1 win. The Owls improve to 2-0 on the season with the win.
The Greyhounds will return to action against The Ravens on Saturday. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m.
