Hooksett, N.H. (February 4) -- The Ice Dogs defeated Southern New Hampshire University, 6-4, behind two goals from junior forward Keven Meehan (Melrose, Mass./Austin Prep) at the Ice Dome on Saturday afternoon.
Meehan started the scoring with his fifth goal of the season off assists from senior Kevin Glanzman (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and Mike Looney (Shrewsbury, Mass./Saint John's).
After two goals by SNHU, Ross White (Uxbridge, Mass./Uxbridge) answered with his eighth goal of the season to knot up the score, and sophomore forward Kyle Zobler (Millbury, Mass./New Hampton) added his third goal of the season to give the Ice Dogs a lead, 3-2 with 4:23 to play in the period.
TJ Bond scored a goal for SNHU with with 3:27 to play in the first period, and the score was tied at three after one period.
Assumption outscored SNHU, 2-1 in the second period, including the fourth goal of the season by Joe Fimiani (Arlington, Mass./Arlington), the eventual game-winner.
Meehan capped the scoring for the Ice Dogs with his sixth goal of the season on a power play in the third period, giving the Ice Dogs a 6-4 advantage which sophomore goaltender Bobby Bowden (Springfield, Mass./Williston-Northampton) would help keep with 41 saves. Bowden had 11 saves in a scoreless final frame to pick up the victory.
The Ice Dogs move to 10-8-1 on the season, while SNHU falls to 1-17-1 with the loss.
