Box Score Colchester, Vt. (September 15) --Assumption used an overtime goal from freshman Sarah Frahm (Salem, N.H./Salem) to run its winning streak to three straight with a 4-3 overtime victory over Saint Michael's in Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday afternoon. The three-game winning streak is the program's first in over eight seasons as the Hounds sit atop the Northeast-10 standings with a 2-0 mark in league games.
The Hounds jumped on the board early yet again as Frahm scored her second goal of the season just 3:39 into the first half. After Kelly MacDonald tied the game for Saint Michael's at the 14:11 mark, the Hounds regained the edge on the third goal in as many games from freshman Maria Beatrice (West Yarmouth, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth). Sophomore Paige Anderson (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) assisted on the goal and now has at least one point in all seven games this season.
Saint Michael's tied the game just five minutes into the second half on an own goal as a long crossing pass was accidentally knocked in by an Assumption defender. The Hounds answered though as another freshman, Austen Theroux (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown), tallied her first career goal as she put home a rebound at the 58-minute mark for the 3-2 lead.
After Erin Brien tied the game yet again for the Purple Knights with just over eight minutes left, the game headed to extra time for the second straight year. The Hounds made sure the result was the same as last season in Worcester as Frahm took a long pass from freshman Kiley Colucci (Gloucester, R.I./St. Mary Academy) and tipped past the goalie for the thrilling victory.
Sophomore Lauren Neilan (Mendon, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) made nine saves in the win, while Sarah Healey had eight stops for Saint Michael's.
With the win, Assumption improves to 3-5 overall, while Saint Michael's drops to 1-6 on the season.
Assumption is back in action on Tuesday, September 18th as Bentley University visits the Multi-Sport Stadium for a 7 p.m. start.
