Box Score Worcester, Mass. (September 19) -- The Assumption College men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision in overtime to Le Moyne College on Wednesday night at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
The Greyhounds fell behind 1-0 in the 39th minute, as the Dolphins beat Assumption keeper Dana King (Windham, Maine/Windham), and carried that lead into halftime.
Coming out of halftime, the Greyhounds took control of the game, as Jose Paulo (Sao Paulo, Brazil/LaSalle Academy) tied the score with a 20-yard strike to the upper right hand corner of the net.
Le Moyne took the lead back with a goal in the 83rd minute, but Assumption knotted the score back up with his second goal of the game with less than three minutes to play in regulation, forcing an overtime period.
Le Moyne ended the game on a breakaway goal to beat King 4:55 into overtime. King finished with two saves while taking the loss.
The Greyhounds outshot Le Moyne 8-3 in the second half, while outscoring the Dolphins 2-1.
Assumption fell to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in league play, while Le Moyne improves to 2-4 on the season. The Greyhounds will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 22 as the team will travel to Bentley University to take on the Falcons. The game will begin at 1 p.m. in Waltham, Mass.
