Box Score Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. (September 30) -- Led by hat tricks by sophomore Paige Anderson (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) and freshman Kiley Colucci (Gloucester, R.I./St. Mary Academy), the Assumption College field hockey team defeated Mercy College by a 7-3 final on Sunday afternoon in non-conference play.
Anderson got the Hounds on the board just 28 seconds in before the Mavericks answered to tie the game at 1-1. Freshman Sarah Frahm (Salem, N.H./Salem) tallied her fifth goal of the season at the 8:40 mark, but Mercy again scored the equalizer to tie the game for the final time. Anderson gave the Hounds the lead for good at the 12:58 mark, followed by two goals in a five-minute span by Colucci later in the half to make it a 5-2 lead at the half. Anderson and Colucci both added second-half goals to complete the scoring for Assumption as the Hounds won for the seventh time in nine games.
Sophomore goalie Lauren Neilan (Mendon, Mass./ Nipmuc Regional) had one save in the win, while two Mercy goalies combined for just three saves on 10 shots on goal.
Overall, Assumption improves to 7-6 on the season, while Mercy falls to 1-8 overall. Assumption is back in action on Saturday, October 6th at 1 p.m. as Stonehill visits the Multi-Sport Stadium for a 1 p.m. start.
