Foxboro, Mass. (January 23) -- The Assumption College ice hockey team dropped a 6-2 final in Northeast-10 Conference play at the Foxboro Sports Center on Wednesday evening.
Junior's Kyle Zobler (Millbury, Mass. / New Hampton) and Ross White (Uxbridge, Mass. / Uxbridge) each had two points in the loss.
Stonehill jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period before Assumption got on the board with White's fifth goal of the season at the 7:17 mark in the second period. Keven Meehan (Melrose, Mass. / Austin Prep) and Zobler had assists on the goal.
After another Skyhawk goal, the Greyhounds once again cut the lead to two as Zobler added his fourth tally of the season with less than seven minutes to play in the second frame. White had his fourth helper of the season on the score.
Two Stonehill goals in the final period led to the final margin of 6-2 as Assumption falls to 4-14-1 with the loss. The Skyhawks improves to 9-10-0 on the season with the win as they outshot Assumption by a 46-38 margin. The home team also converted 1-of-3 power play opportunities, while the Greyhounds went 0-for-5 with the man advantage.
Assumption will return to action on Saturday, January 26 as the Greyhounds will play host to the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University. The game will begin at 4:35 p.m. at the Buffone Arena in Worcester, Mass.
