Box Score Colchester, Vt. (January 29) -- The Assumption College women's basketball team used a
10-0 second half run to take down Saint Michael's College, 57-51, at the Ross Sports Center on Tuesday evening. Assumption is receiving votes in the USA Today Sports Division II National Poll for the seventh straight week.
The teams traded baskets over the first three minutes, with neither team gaining more than a four-point edge until the Greyhounds went on a 6-1 run, gaining a 20-12 edge with 8:25 to play. The Purple Knights closed the half on a 12-3 run to take a one-point lead into the break. The Greyhounds outscored the Purple Knights by eight after the break to come away with the win.
Neither team led by more than three points in a tightly contested second half until the Greyhounds scored 10 straight points to take a 48-40 lead, capped by a layup by freshman Ann Marie Idusuyi (Lynn, Mass. / St. Mary's).
The Purple Knights rattled off six straight points to cut the lead to two, 48-46, but couldn't regain the lead and the Greyhounds would go on to take the victory.
Senior Sabrina Siciliano (Fairfield, Conn. / Fairfield-Warde) scored a team-high 16 points, while fellow senior Gabrielle Gibson (Amityville, N.Y. / Copiague) scored 14 points for Assumption. Katy Howard (Medway, Mass. / Medway) finished with 10 points in the game, bringing her career total to 999 points.

Assumption shot 39.2 percent from the field for the game, but limited Saint Michael's to 35.2 percent shooting in the game and held a 37-34 edge in rebounding. The Greyhounds also forced 24 turnovers and scored 24 points off the Purple Knight miscues. Assumption also held a 10-0 lead in fast break points.
The Greyhounds are now 13-5 and 10-4 in Northeast-10 Conference play while Saint Michael's is now 7-11, 5-10 in league action. The Greyhounds return to play on Saturday, February 2 as Assumption will play host to Merrimack College. The game will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Laska Gymnasium in Worcester, Mass.
