Box Score Worcester, Mass. (October 19) -- The Assumption College men's soccer team dropped a 5-0 final to No. 14 Southern New Hampshire University at the Multi-Sport Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Greyhounds possessed the ball with controlled passing through much of the first half, playing up to the level of the nationally-ranked Penmen.
SNHU broke through against the Greyhounds defense in the 34th minute as Pierre Omanga took the ball down the left sideline and snuck a ball past the Assumption keeper, Dana King (Windham, Maine / Windham) to give the Penmen a 1-0 advantage.
The Penmen struck with three goals over a 10-minute span in the second half to extend the lead to four goals on the way to the 5-0 final.
King made eight saves in the loss for the Greyhounds while Dom DiMaggio and Eddie Legg combined for four saves and a shutout.
The Greyhounds fall to 2-7-2 overall and are now 0-7-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play while the Penmen improve to 12-1-0 overall and are now 10-0-0 in the league.
Assumption will be back in action on October 23rd, as the Greyhounds will travel to Le Moyne to take on the Dolphins. The match will begin at 3 p.m.
