Box Score Easton, Mass. (October 26) -- The Assumption College men's soccer team earned its first Northeast-10 Conference victory with a 2-1 victory over Stonehill College on Saturday afternoon.
The Greyhounds used two goals in the first 17 minutes of action to propel the team to a victory. Sophomore Nemanja Kaurin (South Portland, Maine / South Portland) got the Greyhounds on the board in the fifth minute off an assist by Alex Parisi (Methuen, Mass. / Central Catholic).
Junior Troy Lamagna (South Glastonbury, Conn. / Glastonbury) added a marker in the 17th minute, the eventual game-winner, off an assist by Lucas Spina (Holliston, Mass. / Holliston) to give Assumption a 2-0 edge.
Will Miller cut the Greyhound lead in half in the 41st minute, but the Skyhawks wouldn't draw any closer on the way to the 2-1 final.
The Greyhounds outshot Stonehill by a 13-6 margin, and put eight goals on target as compared to four shots on target by the Skyhawks. Sophomore Dana King (Windham, Maine / Windham) made three saves while allowing the one goal to earn the win.
The Greyhounds improve to 3-8-2 overall and now sit at 1-8-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play while the Skyhawks fall to 4-9-1 and sit at 3-7-1 in league play.
Assumption will be back in action on October 30th as the team will play host to the University of New Haven. The match will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
