Garden City, N.Y. (October 29) -- On Tuesday night, the Assumption College field hockey team dropped a 2-1 final to Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference play at Motamed Field. The loss snaps Assumption's two-game winning streak in the final road game of the season for the Hounds.

Adelphi jumped on top 1-0 just 51 seconds into the contest as Carly Aceves scored her fourth goal of the year off an assist from Molly Cuevas for the early edge. At the three-minute mark, the Panthers increased the lead to 2-0 as Cuevas put home a rebound for her fourth goal of the season. Adelphi held a 5-3 edge in shots in the opening 35 minutes, including 4-2 in shots on goal.

Assumption sophomore Kiley Colucci (Gloucester, R.I./St. Mary Academy) cut the lead in half at the 55:04 mark as she tallied the unassisted goal for her sixth goal of the season and a 2-1 margin. The Hounds held a 3-2 edge in shots on goal in the second half, but were unable to notch the equalizer in the one-goal setback.

Senior Heather Philbrick (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) made four saves in the loss, while Adelphi goalie Kelly Serrao had three stops while picking up the victory.

With the loss, Assumption drops to 6-11 overall and 2-7 in the Northeast-10, while Adelphi improves to 9-8 overall and 4-5 in league play.

Assumption concludes the 2013 season on Sunday, November 3rd as the Hounds host Saint Anselm College for a 1 p.m. start at the Multi-Sport Stadium. Prior to the game, the Hounds will honor the six members of this year's Senior Class for their contributions to the program during their careers.
