Worcester, Mass. (October 30) -- Senior Lucas Spina (Holliston, Mass. / Holliston) lifted the Greyhounds to a 1-0 overtime win over The University of New Haven at the Multi-Sport Stadium on Wednesday.

Spina scored 78 seconds into the extra period to give the Greyhounds their second Northeast-10 Conference victory. The Greyhounds improve to 4-8-2 on the season with the win and are now 2-8-2 in league play while the Chargers fall to 1-14-1 overall and are 1-11-0 in the league.

The Greyhounds out shot New Haven by a 22-6 margin, dominating both halves of the contest by a heavy shot total. Assumption held a 10-3 edge in shots in each half of regulation, and took the only two shots in overtime for the final total.

Sophomore Dana King (Windham, Maine / Windham) made two saves in the shutout for the Greyhounds while James Pyatsky made six saves while allowing the one goal in the loss for the Owls.

Spina was active throughout the contest, attempting a team-best six shots including three on target before breaking through in the overtime period. He was not the only Greyhound with strong scoring chances as senior captain Max Roche (Medway, Mass. / Medway) nearly had a goal on a 30-yard blast in the second half and the Greyhounds had a goal called back by an offside call with a minute remaining in regulation.

The Greyhounds will close out the season on November 1st as the team will play host to Saint Michael's  College.  The match will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Multi-Sport Stadium on Friday. Prior to the game, Assumption will honor its senior class.
