Babson Park, Mass. (November 16) -- The Assumption College ice hockey team dropped a 4-3 final to the No. 11 ranked Babson College Beavers on Saturday afternoon.  Babson capitalized on three power play goals in the victory over Assumption.

The Beavers jumped ahead with the first three goals of the game as Mike Vollmin got Babson on the board with a power play goal at the 7:58 mark in the first period.

Ben Kravitz and Mike Driscoll extended the Beaver lead to three with second period goals as Driscoll's unassisted marker at the 7:38 mark in the second period put Babson up by a score of 3-0.

The Greyhounds rallied back with consecutive goals as sophomore Alex Erban (Attleboro, Mass. / Mount Saint Charles) got the Greyhounds on the board on an unassisted score at the 10:38 mark in the period. Freshman Ryan Gomez (Wayne, N.J. / Wayne Valley) brought the score within one, 3-2, off an assist by sophomore Brandon Bete (Greenfield, Mass. / Northfield Mount Hermon) just 5:55 to play in the second period.

Michael Phillips added a power play goal for Babson just more than a minute later, the eventual game-winning goal, to extend the lead to two, 4-2.

Bete brought the Greyhounds within one with a third period goal coming from Gomez with 5:34 to play in the third period, but Assumption could not draw any closer in the 4-3 final.

Senior Bobby Bowden (Springfield, Mass. / Williston-Northampton) made 40 saves in the loss while Danny Rivellini made 11 saves for Babson in the win.

The Greyhounds fall to 1-3-1 on the season with the loss while Babson remains unbeaten at 4-0.

Assumption is back in action on November 23rd at Southern New Hampshire University. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m.
