Worcester, Mass. (December 11) -- The Assumption College ice hockey team dropped a 2-1 final to Framingham State University at the Buffone Arena on Wednesday evening.
The Greyhounds fell behind by two goals over the first two periods as Melvin Nichols scored a first period marker and Ryan McDonald scored in the second period for the Rams.
Assumption cut the lead in half as Alex Erban (Attleboro, Mass. / Mt. St. Charles) scored off helpers by Trevor Plante (Blackstone, Mass. / Mt. St. Charles) and Ryan Gomez (Wayne, N.J. / Wayne Valley) with 24 seconds to play in the contest.
Freshman Nick Commesso (Marshfield, Mass. / Governors Academy) made 25 saves in the loss for Assumption while Alessio Muggli made 31 saves for the Rams in the win.
The Greyhounds fall to 2-8-1 with the loss while the Rams improve to 6-3-1 with the win.
Assumption will be back in action on January 4th as the Greyhounds will play host to Northeast-10 Conference rival Franklin Pierce University. The game will begin at 4:35 p.m. at Buffone Arena.
