Manchester, N.H. (December 4) -- The Assumption College ice hockey team dropped a 5-0 final to Saint Anselm College at the Thomas F. Sullivan Arena on Wednesday evening.
The Hawks built a three-goal lead in the first period on the way to the victory as Johnny Daniels got the scoring started for Saint Anselm just 49 seconds into the contest.
Matt Buckley and Eric Czapka notched goals at 13:26 and 14:35 as the Hawks built the lead up to three goals after one period. The Hawks added two third period goals on the way to the 5-0 final.
Freshman Nick Commesso (Marshfield, Mass. / Governors Academy) made 26 saves while allowing just two goals in his first action of the season, the freshman played more than 45 minutes in relief, turning away the first 18 shots he faced.
The Greyhounds fall to 2-7-1 on the season with the loss and are now 0-3-1 in Northeast-10 Conference play while the Hawks improve to 2-3-2 on the season and are now 2-0-0 in league play.
Assumption is back in action on Wednesday, December 11th as the Greyhounds will play host to Framingham State University. The game will begin at 7:35 p.m. at the Buffone Arena in Worcester, Mass.
