Worcester, Mass. (February 16) -- The Assumption College ice hockey team closed its regular season with a 6-0 final to Stonehill College at the Charles J. Buffone Arena on Saturday evening.
Prior to the game, the Assumption honored its senior class for their contributions to the program with a small ceremony. The senior's being honored were Joe Fimiani (Arlington, Mass. / Arlington), Danny Dearing (Lisbon Falls, Maine / North Yarmouth), Dave D'Amico (Johnston, R.I. / LaSalle Academy), Dave Maiocco (Medford, Mass. / Arlington Catholic), Keven Meehan (Melrose, Mass. / Austin Prep), and Ken Pia (Guilford, Conn. / Xavier).
After a scoreless first period, the Skyhawks got onto the board at the 16:47 mark in the second period as Brendan Greene break Assumption goaltender Bobby Bowden (Springfield, Mass. / Williston-Northampton). Greene added another goal with 25 seconds to play in the period to extend the Skyhawk lead to two heading into the second intermission.
The Greyhounds allowed four goals in the third period on the way to the loss.
Bowden made 41 saves in the loss, as the Greyhounds finish the season with a 7-16-2 record for the season. Stonehill improves to 11-13-0 on the season with the win.
