Waltham, Mass. (September 19) -- In non-conference play on Thursday night, the Assumption College field hockey team dropped a 3-0 final at Bentley University. The Falcons converted on three penalty corner opportunities in the first half to jump out to a 3-0 lead at the break, en route to the win by that score.

Gina Lirange tallied her seventh goal of the season off a penalty corner at the 19:45 mark, followed by her second goal of the game just 1:12 later for the 2-0 Bentley lead. With just 2:11 left in the first half, Molly Rowe converted a penalty corner situation for her first goal of the season and a 3-0 edge at the halftime break. Assumption had registered the first two shots on goal of the game before Bentley scored a trio of goals to close out the period.

In the second, the Hounds held a 4-0 edge in penalty corners and had two early in the half, but both shot opportunities were blocked by the Falcon defense. Assumption was unable to break thru in the game, dropping the three-goal final on the road.

Senior goalie Heather Philbrick (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) made one save in the loss, while Katie Kelley had five stops for the victory.

With the loss, Assumption falls to 3-3 overall, while Bentley now stands at 4-2 on the season.

Assumption is back in action on Saturday, September 21st as the Hounds play host to Merrimack for a non-conference game beginning at Noon.
