Easton, Mass. (September 7) -- Freshman standout Ethan Morrow (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Hyde) scored two goals on the way to a 3-0 win over Saint Anselm College as the Assumption College men's soccer team claimed the inaugural Catholic Cup title.

Morrow also scored the game-winning goal in Friday afternoon's 1-0 win over Saint Michael's College that advanced the Greyhounds into the championship.

Senior Max Roche (Medway, Mass. / Medway) was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player for his outstanding play and leadership on the field as the Greyhounds posted a pair of shutouts to take the first Catholic Cup.

The Greyhounds jumped ahead on a goal by junior Josh Dutilley (Keene, N.H. / Keene), his first of the season, at the 9:31 mark in the first half.

Morrow added his first tally of the game at the 28:57 mark to give Assumption a 2-0 lead heading into halftime

The freshman continued his goal-scoring touch with his second goal of the game and third goal of the tournament on a header in the 58th minute. Morrow took a pass from junior Matt Flynn (East Falmouth, Mass. / Falmouth) and finished to give the Greyhounds a three-goal lead, providing the final margin.

Sophomore Dana King (Windham, Maine / Windham) posted his second-straight shutout, turning away the only shot he faced in the contest. In two games, King recorded two shutouts and earned two wins while making three total saves.

Assumption outshot the Hawks by an 18-7 margin, including an 8-1 edge in shots on goal. The Greyhounds also attempted nine corner kicks while the Hawks were limited to two.

The Greyhounds improve to 2-0 on the season and will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 14th, as the team will travel to Manchester, N.H. to take on the Hawks of Saint Anselm College. The match will begin at 2 p.m.
