Fitchburg, Mass. (January 7) -- The Assumption College ice hockey team dropped a 6-1 final to Fitchburg State University at the Wallace Civic Center in non-conference action on Tuesday.
Junior Trevor Plante (Blackstone, Mass. / Mount Saint Charles) had the lone tally for the Greyhounds, a second period marker off assists by Paul Amarone (Hamden, Conn. / Trinity Pauling) and junior Brennen Shaw (Presque Isle, Maine / Brewster).
The goal cut the Fitchburg State lead to two, 3-1, before the Falcons added the final three goals of the contest on the way to the 6-1 final.
In net, sophomore Chris Hemhauser (Old Saybrook, Conn. / Worcester Academy) collected 21 saves for Assumption in the setback while junior Ryan Wysocki (Grand Rapids, Mich.) stopped 30 shots for the Falcons in the complete game effort.
Assumption falls to 2-10-1 and sits at 0-3-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while Fitchburg State improves to 6-7-0 and holds a 3-3-0 record in the MASCAC.
The Greyhounds are back in action next Tuesday, as Assumption will host Western New England University at 6:05 p.m.
